Airbnb experiences that are just worth the hype

Must do day trip from Paris: Champagne region

Sometimes, we need to get out of the routine, get out of the city, and enjoy some time doing things we wouldn’t normally do on a day-to-day basis. Since France is truly blessed with good soil that provides even better alcohol, my friends and I decided to head out of Paris and into the Champagne region for (yes, you guessed it) Champagne.

Nana’s tip 1: This is my second time visiting the region. I found that booking an Airbnb experience rather than directly with the big champagne house was easier but much more of a fantastic experience than just visiting one Champagne house. Airbnb experiences usually offer more than what seeing one champagne house does by not only visiting various places in one trip but exploring additional landmarks. I highly recommend researching experiences and the houses before deciding what to do.

After some thorough research, we booked the experience with À la Française Champagne (ALF) company, and let me tell you, it was worth every penny.

We started our trip by taking a 40-minute train from Gare de l’Est to Reims where we had lunch at Le Tablier. Le Tablier is a French restaurant that has delicious pasta dishes. One of my favorites is having their truffle pasta with some champagne (of course, how could I not); I highly recommend it if you are ever in Reims.

After lunch, we headed to the train station to meet with our tour guide. À la Française Champagne tour focuses on smaller champagne houses, highlighting the skill and detailed nature of creating champagne. We started our time with a ride around Avenue de Champagne in Epernay (where most of the big champagne houses like Moët & Chandon are located) and then headed to the beautiful fields of the region to visit the local places. Everything from the tour to our guide to the houses and their champagne was truly exquisite. We all enjoyed every second of the tour. It was around a 4-hour tour, and we finished back at the train station, where we took our train to Paris and were home by 9 p.m. It was a refreshing and genuinely fantastic experience I will never forget.

If you are looking for that little getaway moment from Paris, I will never stop recommending visiting the Champagne region, especially with the ALF Champagne tour.

Fun activities to break the routine in Paris

If you want to spend more time in Paris and do something to break the routine or just something fun whilst you're visiting, I highly recommend taking a croissant, éclair, or macaron class with Maison Fleuret

Located in the stunning 6th arrondissement, Maison Fleuret puts the French in French pastries. This boulangerie and pastry house is truly a gem. They offer gorgeous cooking classes of some French pastry staples. We picked the croissant class (I love butter, after all) with no regret.

It was around a 2-hour class where you meet many lovely people and have a wholesome afternoon in Paris. Individually, you can make around 4 croissants (2 croissants and 2 pain au chocolat) plus a little surprise at the end. With some coffee or tea, you can relax, roll some dough, and stuff your face with a croissant (I had no leftovers, and I cried the following day because of it).

Nana’s tip 2: book the experience through Airbnb – it’s much cheaper around certain times of year.

I fell even more in love with Paris and France after these experiences, and I highly recommend you try/research experiences for your time in France!
