Enchanted streets of Paris: Rue de Martyr Edition

france paris Sep 30, 2023

We have already established that Paris is a magical city. It’s home to these enchanted streets that traverse different arrondissements and display the uniqueness of each one.

I recently discovered one of these streets, Rue de Martyr, thanks to my dear friend Margaret (“Meg”). We decided to head out on a Saturday morning for a much-deserved food tour.

Rue de Martyr starts in Montmartre (18th arrondissement) and goes all the way down to the 9th arrondissement ending in Notre Dame de Lorette. You can find incredible restaurants, bars, and bakeries in one street. Here are some of the places I visited, and I believe they are worth stopping during your time in Paris.

Is it even a girl’s day out if we don’t stop in a thrift shop? We started our journey in Cinemachine thrift shop, where my friend Meg found some stunning boots, and Alyssa missed her chance on an ICONIC jacket.

We were feeling famished after our shopping, so our first stop on the food tour was Constantia Pizze e Elixirs. This pizza place was so good, especially their truffle pizza (Please Tell the Truffe). They also have rum-based elixirs and some excellent drinks. I recommend visiting Constantia regardless of whether you see the Martyr or Paradis location!

After our fantastic pizza, we continued walking down the street, popping in the beautiful shops and markets around the 18th! If you want a Parisian gift, I can guarantee you will find something here.

After crossing Pigalle, we entered Rue de Martyr on the 9th. This is where you see that clear difference in each arrondissement. By this time, we desperately needed a pick-me-up. We popped into KB Coffee Roasters for a much-needed coffee. Whether you want a good coffee or a solid workplace, KB Coffee Roasters offers the best!

After our savory lunch, we sought some sweet goodness, and Glaces offered just that. Let me tell you, these ice creams were insane. They have some delicious and unique flavors that are oh-so-good. After our ice cream, we made a pit stop at a well-known wine shop in Paris, NYSA, where I found my absolute dream of a tote bag.

After our sweet treat, we needed more, as one should. And what better sweet treat than a chou? We stopped at the infamous Popelini and bought ourselves some chou pastry. I had the pistachio, while Meg and Alyssa had the month's chocolate and coconut flavor. Whenever you are in Paris and see a Popelini, I highly recommend you stop and try their fantastic chou!

Finally, we ended our tour at Le Pain Retrouvé. If you are only going to visit one place and one place, only make sure it is this boulangerie. It has no signs, no way of figuring out where it is, except for a huge line outside. You see the bakers working on their creations through the window, rolling up croissants and baking bread. The smell… immaculate. My recommendation is to pick up one of their croissants and their focaccia. You will not be sorry.

I highly recommend devoting some of your Paris experience to visiting Rue de Martyr. This street is truly unique, and it is so easy to spend a day shopping, eating, drinking, and walking around this beautiful street.
